Departmental Objectives:

  • To train graduate and post-graduate students in the subject of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physiotherapy and impart knowledge in them regarding use of a patient-centered model of care with multi-system assessment and evidence-based interventions.
  • To emphasize on early identification, prevention and management of risk factors responsible for development of cardiovascular and respiratory disorders
  • To provide Physiotherapy facilities for rehabilitation of patients admitted in intensive care units, and those with cardiovascular, metabolic and chronic respiratory disorders
  • To assess the level of physical fitness of individuals and assist in enhancing the fitness level for better quality of life.
  • To promote healthy lifestyle by organizing fitness sessions for students and staff.
  • To undertake quality research to explore new avenues in the field of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy.
  • To raise awareness of Cardio-respiratory Physiotherapy and promote health through organization of Support group activities and out-reach program in the form of camps in nearby residential areas

Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy is a patient centered department of care with multi-system assessment, evidence-based interventions and significant patient education to promote a healthy active lifestyle. The main strength of our department is the dedication to the development of cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, fitness programs, intensive care physiotherapy and post-COVID rehabilitation. Outpatient department is well equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools.

Clinical services are offered in the following Clinical areas:

  • Cardiac Care unit and Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery unit
  • Medical Intensive care unit & medical wards
  • Surgical Intensive care units & surgery wards
  • Paediatric Intensive Care unit, Neonatal intensive care unit & paediatric wards
  • Burns unit
  • Outpatient department- Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary rehabilitation, Obesity class, Fitness OPD
  • COVID Intensive care unit & ward, post-COVID OPD, telerehabilitation services.
  • Support Group activities for patients suffering from respiratory disorders
